Workshop on SSH in Energy System Transition

Welcome to the workshop on Social Science and Humanities (SSH) in Energy System Transition!

    • When: Thursday, 26th October, 2017
    • Time: 9:00-13:00
    • Venue: NTNU premises, Rue du Trone 61, 1050 Brussels
    • Organizer: EU ECHOES project

The overarching objective of ECHOES (Energy Choices Supporting the Energy Union and the Set-Plan) project is to unlock the policy potential of an integrated social science perspective on energy behavior. Hereby, ECHOES will foster the implementation of the SET (Strategic Energy Technologies) -Plan Actions and advance towards decarbonizing of the EU’s future energy system.

One of the outcomes of the ECHOES will be an open-access database that will collect and synthesize data, and define indicators on Social Science and Humanities (SSH) in Energy System Transition. Data on SSH generally deals with non-technical issues such as individual and collective energy choices, energy cultures, consumer and investor behaviour, acceptance, policies and regulation.

 The aim of the workshop is to discuss and identify:

  • existing sources, potential uses, and gaps on SSH data;
  • list of SSH indicators to support sustainable energy transformation.

The workshop will result in an ECHOES report, including also results from literature and other surveys carried out within the project.
